Chicago Green Festival – Attendance over 35,000
Returning for a second year, our Green Festival surpassed last year’s impressive attendance and drew a diverse crowd of over 35,000 to Chicago’s historic Navy Pier.
The weekend celebration commenced with an official welcome and ribbon cutting from Mayor Richard M. Daley. With 150 visionary speakers, 300 local and national green businesses and dozens of community and non-profit groups, Green Festivals are the most authentic green living shows in the country.
Through the efforts of hundreds of greening volunteers and meticulous sorting procedures to reuse, recycle and compost, 94% of all show waste was recovered (up 2% from last year) with a mere 4% going to the local landfill!
According to USA Today (April 22, 2008) the event and tradeshow industries are notoriously wasteful, utilizing excessive energy, dumping tons of waste into landfills, and leaving crater-sized environmental footprints…in each locale, Green Festival demonstrates its commitment to walking its green talk and seeks to constantly improve its performance.

End Corporate Secrecy on Climate Change
Join Green America’s action to improve corporate disclosure on climate change. According to Todd Larson, Green America Corporate Responsibility Director, “It’s important that shareholders know what their companies are doing to combat the climate crisis. Our campaign to inform Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has enlisted thousands of concerned citizens who are asking for corporate disclosure despite the impediments.”
