Thanksgiving Coffee Co. Receives Peace Award
Thanksgiving Coffee Co.
was awarded the esteemed Dr. Jean Mayer Global Citizenship Award in recognition of their work with Peace Kawomera Fair Trade Coffee Cooperative, a co-op of Muslim, Christian and Jewish coffee farmers in Africa.
Thanksgiving received the honor for their work in alleviating poverty while creating accountable and sustainable trade practices and encouraging peace and interfaith harmony. Thanksgiving sold 25,000 pounds of Kawomera coffee directly to synagogues, churches and mosques in 2007, and donated $1 per package to the Peace Kawomera Cooperative

Creating Green Collar Jobs
Green For All, Apollo Alliance, Center for American Progress and the Center on Wisconsin Strategy have released a how-to guide for creating green-collar jobs at the local level.
Green-Collar Jobs in America’s Cities: Building Pathways out of Poverty and Careers in the Clean Energy Economy, is a comprehensive guide to assist people that are working to create a green economy that provides pathways to prosperity to for people in need.
Majora Carter, Green For All board member and founder of Sustainable South Bronx will be keynoting at the Chicago Green Festival® on the green-collar revolution. She was named one of the 25 Most Influential African-American’s by Essence Magazine in 2007 and is a MacArthur “Genius” Fellow. (NOTE: Carter will speak Sunday, May 18th at 2pm in the Navy Pier Ballroom.)

Black Enterprise spotlights Conscious Living TV
Bianca Alexander, host and co-producer of Conscious Living TV was spotlighted in the green issue of Black Enterprise magazine in April. The Alexanders spread the green message through their weekly broadband television program via Conscious LivingTV.com. Recent shows include spring makeovers for healthy hair and a whole body detox edition in which Bianca guides viewers through the simple steps of a great green makeover.
Bianca and Michael Alexander will be at the Chicago Green Business Conference interviewing green business leaders, taping for future segments and moderating sessions.
Sundance Channel’s THE GOOD FIGHT Airs
Simran Sethi, award-winning eco-expert and host of Sundance Channel’s THE GREEN will host the channel’s newest show, The Good Fight profiling innovators and artists working on environmental sustainability.
Clif Bar Partners with Terra-Cycle to recycle Wrappers
Clif Bar is furthering their sustainability commitments by teaming up with Terra-Cycle to collect Clif Bar wrappers that will be woven into material for backpacks, tote bags and other products. Individuals and businesses can sign-up for the Wrapper Brigade and will receive collection bags that can be used to collect and send back to TerraCycle. Products are expected in stores in 2009.
Pizza Fusion featured in Green Business Documentary
Pizza Fusion was featured in the documentary "Saving the Earth one business at a Time" which premiered at The Palm Beach Film Festival April 14th. It showcases Pizza Fusion and other green companies who are working to green the industries in which they operate in.
BALLE Conference
The sixth annual BALLE Conference is scheduled in Boston, June 5-7 and will feature Don Shaffer of RSF Social Finance, Jeff Mendelsohn of New Leaf Paper, Paul Saginaw of Zingerman’s Community of Businesses and others.
