Physic Ventures Raises $159 Million

Physic Ventures, a San Francisco venture firm, exceeded its fundraising goal of $150 million, pulling in $159 million to invest in consumer product companies focused on healthy living. The firm was successful in large part by bringing in top-tier investors including Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy Inc., Elixir Pharmaceuticals, and Novomer. Managing Director of Physic Ventures, William Rosenzweig will speak at the San Francisco Green Business Conference November 12-13.

Al Gore and Green For All on Green Economy

Vice President Al Gore has challenged the United States to transition to 100% carbon-free electricity within the decade. The nation’s success however, is dependent upon the support of Congress to fund an inclusive, green economy. Green For All is strengthening the call for action by urging Congress to begin fully funding the Green Jobs Act.

Green Exchange on ABC’s Go Green

Green Exchange, soon to be Chicago’s one-stop green shopping center was featured on Go Green with ABC 7. The Green Exchange building will feature a state-of- the-art green roof, solar thermal panels, and extensive recycling system. The program focused on Chicago’s environmentally responsible businesses and what Chicagoans are doing to reduce their carbon footprint. Phil Baugh of Green Exchange spoke at the 2008 Green Business Conference.

The 2009 Chicago Green Festival and Green Business Conference are scheduled for May 12- 18.

Financing Renewable Energy

New Generation Energy announces the launch of its Renewable Energy Investment Notes (REIN) which will allow individuals, businesses and foundations to directly finance the creation of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. A first in the US, REIN’s are fixed interest and fixed term, ranging from $1,000 to $1,000,000 plus. Proceeds from the sale of REINs will be used to fund wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, and other renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
