Traditional Medicinals Constructs Solar Factory

Traditional Medicinals, an organic medicinal tea company, has completed construction of the world’s largest solar powered tea factory. In partnership with Akeena Solar, the tea company installed 1,450 solar panels to power its 70,000 sq ft factory and headquarters.

Dean’s Beans Creates Girl’s Empowerment Organization

Dean’s Beans recently announced the creation of CHICA – Communidades de Hermanas Inteligentes con Corazones Abiertos (translated – Communities of Intelligent Sisters with Open Heats). CHICA is a Guatemalan indigenous girls’ empowerment organization, working to organize health and social workshops to increase self-esteem and build community. The organization was founded in partnership with three Amherst High School students and APROS – a Guatemalan women’s health organization.
