Strategies in the Green Economy
Joel Makower, co-founder and executive editor of Greener World Media recently released his new book Strategies for the Green Economy. The book examines the opportunities and challenges facing both large companies and entrepreneurs as they seek to grow their business while reducing their environmental impact. Joel will be speaking at the upcoming Green Business Conference in San Francisco, November 12-13, 2008.

Green America business member, Trish Riley (Culturally Creative Concepts), is releasing her latest book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Greening Your Business, in May, 2009.
Trish is a panelist at the Green Business Conference in San Francisco, Nov. 11-12, where she will be signing and selling her last book, "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Green Living."

Traditional Medicinals Constructs Solar Factory
Traditional Medicinals, an organic medicinal tea company, has completed construction of the world’s largest solar powered tea factory. In partnership with Akeena Solar, the tea company installed 1,450 solar panels to power its 70,000 sq ft factory and headquarters.
Traditional Medicinals founder Drake Sadler said, “Our company operates according to a set of ethical business principals and practices which embrace environmental stewardship, and advocate for social and cultural sustainability and preservation. Projects like this solar installation simply reflect our deep respect for the earth and humanity.”
Dean’s Beans Creates Girl’s Empowerment Organization
Dean’s Beans recently announced the creation of CHICA – Communidades de Hermanas Inteligentes con Corazones Abiertos (translated – Communities of Intelligent Sisters with Open Heats). CHICA is a Guatemalan indigenous girls’ empowerment organization, working to organize health and social workshops to increase self-esteem and build community. The organization was founded in partnership with three Amherst High School students and APROS – a Guatemalan women’s health organization.
Join Ella Baker Center for Year End Celebration
The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights will be hosting a year-end celebration and fundraiser in Oakland, Calif., on November 20, 2008, from 6-9 pm. There, attendees will reflect on the achievements of the past year and honor young people who have committed themselves to working toward justice and peace in their communities.
