Cool Off with Fair Trade Ice Cream
Ice cream is a great summer treat. And thanks to several green business leaders, you can now enjoy ice cream made with Fair Trade Certified™ ingredients. Here are some companies that offer Fair Trade flavors:
Temptation Vegan Ice Cream offers chocolate, coffee, and green tea Fair Trade Certified™ flavors. It is available in 18 states; check out their Web site to see where you can buy it near you!
Blackwell’s Organic has Fair Trade chocolate, coffee, and peanut butter chocolate swirl soy gelato. You can buy all their flavors online through their website. They also are sold at stores in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Ben and Jerry’s has Fair Trade coffee flavors, as well as Fair Trade chocolate and vanilla. You can find Ben and Jerry’s at most grocery stores nationwide.
Stonyfield Farm has Organic Fair Trade vanilla chai ice cream. Visit their website to see where you can pick up some of their ice cream!
The Amherst Fair Trade Partnership approached their local dairy, Cook Farm, about using Fair Trade ingredients in their ice cream. As a result, Cook Farm now uses Fair Trade Certified™ coffee and vanilla in their flavors. Cook Farm even handed out free Fair Trade vanilla ice cream at an Amherst World Fair Trade Day event. Do you frequent a local dairy? Follow Amhert's lead and ask your ice cream stand to use Fair Trade ingredients.
