Heineken has a 10-year sustainability goal called “Brewing a Better Future.” With a pledge to cut direct and indirect climate emissions by 40 percent in its breweries by 2020. Heineken’s aim is to reduce water consumption 25 percent by 2020. All operating companies must compile their own sustainability reports by 2015. Heineken is establishing a supplier code of conduct, in order for them to achieve their goals.

In 2003, Heineken was honored for its commitment to the Westchester & Putnam communities. When Heineken moved to White Plains in 1996 they setup the Corporate Affairs department which had a budget of $500,000 in 2002. Heineken was recognized by United Way not just because of their monetary donations, but also the time that their employees donate to the community.
