Oppose the “Black Liquor” Loophole for Paper Mills
Conventional paper mills are making billions by burning their waste (a pollutant known as “black liquor”) as a fuel mixed with diesel. The loophole defines “black liquor” as technically an “alternative fuel,” qualifying conventional paper mills for a tax break. Recycled paper companies, with less waste, can’t participate, while polluting virgin pulp mills receive taxpayer money to contribute to climate change.

Credit Card Reform Not Complete – Take Action
Thanks to pressure over the years from Green Americans and our allies, Congress passed and the President signed legislation to reform the credit card industry. While these changes are welcome, more is needed to safeguard individuals and our society from abusive credit card policies that contribute to mounting household debt. If leading banks like Bank of America, Citigroup, and JP Morgan Chase change their practices, other banks will likely follow suit.

While the government, and even Exxon’s competitors, are taking action to address climate change, Exxon’s stuck in a business model from the last century. Tell Exxon’s CEO and Board Chair that he needs a business plan that will cut carbon and increase renewable energy.
